Drug Dependency

In common, every day language the reality of drug dependency is loosely defined. Dr. Dan Galant Ph. D., helps us understand what drug dependency is and how we can perceive drug dependency in every day life. While Dr. Galant may refer to the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders) to gain an academic definition of dependency, he describes dependency as that which causes you withdrawal symptoms from suddenly stopping usage of any drug and also stresses that a growing tolerance for a drug of abuse is another sign of dependency.  More generally speaking, however, drug dependency may simply e when a person who uses drugs and alcohol no longer can maintain the regular social relationships they previously enjoyed before they became dependent such as relationships with loved ones, friends and work.
